James Blunt

The very unique James Blunt is here with his first video for the famed, “You’re Beautiful”. I must admit going in to this video it crossed my mindthat this video was just going to be a big pile of pop-crap, but I was very happily mistaken by Mr. Blunt (you have got to love the name).

Before we even get to the video for “You’re Beautiful” we have to talk about the song. With just a few simple chords this song is awesome. Everyone has had a situation in their lives that can relate to this song, it is pure adolescent infatuation at its finest. The video fits the song tremendously. The video starts out with James overlooking the ocean in the rain. The song begins and James approaches the camera and begins to strip his clothing and sit down on the ground the whole time singing about this woman he has encountered. He begins to empty his pockets and takes off his jewelry. As the video ends James stands up turns towards the water and jumps off the platform, because she is beautiful but he will never be with her. Check out the video and his album Back to Bedlam. -Charlie Collick

Artist: Jason Mraz

Video: "Wordplay"

Director: Dean Karr

Jason Mraz

“Wordplay”, the first single off Jason Mraz’s new album Mr. A-Z, is very catchy and is sure to make even the scene kids crack a smile. The pop prince has turned out another batch of catchy choruses and up beat tunes with his new album Mr. A-Z. The video for “Wordplay” is totally worth the time to check out.

There are primarily two different scenes to the song. The clip starts out with Jason and a bunch of his cohorts jamming in a field. The tone of the video is known right from the start when you see one of the band members dressed in a wizard costume and Jason dancing like nobodys buisness. The second clip is Jason just playing by himself on a tree stump next to a road. As people pass on the road they are overwhelmed by the “horrible sounds” coming from Jason. They begin to pelt him with rocks. During the video the camera bounces between the two shots. The next time they come to the rock throwing shot, a small army has assembled and is battering a bruised and broken Mraz. By the end of the video Jason is mangled and he still refuses to stop playing. This video is worth a look. -Charlie Collick

Artist: Hawthorne Heights

Video: “Niki FM“

Director: Major Lightner

Hawthorne Heights

Hawthorne Heights has been no stranger to the camera flashes and screaming teen fans this summer. “Niki FM” is the follow up single to the summer anthem “Ohio is for Lovers” and now this video is climbing the charts hovering around 11 on the TRL countdown. Both of the videos, which are off of the album The Silence in Black and White, have endured great success.

This video is much darker than the famed “Ohio is for Lovers”. It starts out at what appears to be a high school graduation of some sort with lead singer JT Woodruff, singing from a podium in front of the crowd. His eyes forever focused on a young girl. There is an unspoken tension in this video that defiantly caught my attention. The video then moves to a very dark lit house where a graduation party is being held. Woodruff is seen collecting keys from his peers. From here the video gets crazy with Woodruff getting a cup of coffee thrown at him by the mystery girl’s fathers. I could spend all day explaining this mini movie of a video, but I think you should just check it out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. -Charlie Collick

Artist: Fall Out Boy

Video: “Dance, Dance “

Director: Alan Ferguson

Fall Out Boy

The kids of Fall Out Boy have made it a habit to keep their videos light and fun. With the video for “Sugar, We’re Going Down”, they had fun with a half man-half deer theme and the new video for “Dance, Dance” is just as fun. Both are off the album From Under the Cork Tree.

With the boys all decked out in ultra un-cool gear ready for their high school prom, they show up only to find out that Fall Out Boy is playing the prom. The fast paced song has everyone dancing with even some sweet choreographed dance sequences. The volume of the music fades in and out as conversations take place on the dance floor between bands members and their high school peers. The band, mean while is putting on an awesome show getting everyone up out of there chairs and ready to “Dance, Dance”. Check it out! - Charlie Collick

Artist: Ryan Cabrera

Video: “Shine On“

Director: Kevin Kerslake

Ryan Cabrera

Ryan Cabrera is no stranger to the TRL countdown but I must say that his new video for “Shine On” is a stand out. Shine On is a single off of Cabrera’s new album Shine On.

The video starts out with Ryan and a female friend driving to a pool party in a classic Corvette. The song is a sort of awkward love/break up song. As they arrive to the pool party they quickly separate to Cabrera’s dismay. The video cuts several times to Cabrera playing his guitar alone on the beach. They both are keeping an eye on one another as they move around the party but they never meet eye to eye. As the sun goes down the beautiful young girl walks alone on the beach. As the video closes out they are sitting next to one another next to the bond fire put the shot jumps back and forth to them kissing under water. I recommend you check this one out even if it’s just to see about 60 beautiful young ladies in bikinis. Do it. Do it. - Charlie Collick
