Death Cab For Cutie - “Crooked Teeth“
The Elected - “Not Going Home“
Artist: The Shins
Video: “Saint Simon“
Director: Your Mum

Hey! It’s Charlie here with another great rock video for you. This one comes to us via the awesome indie rockers, The Shins. The new video for “Saint Simon” is kickin’. Very simple yet powerful at the same time it illuminates exactly what James Mercer is writing about in the song. He writes about a change or a metamorphosis.
“Saint Simon” shows the band in the woods really getting in touch with mother earth. Butterflies fill the video from star to finish as the band of wandering minstrels prance around the forest. During the scenes in which the band is playing, there is a certain Beatles vibe going on. Check out “Saint Simon” for sure. -Charlie Collick

The video for “Crooked Teeth” is a semi-animation clip but features DCFC in the video as themselves. A lot of artists have been going this way mainly because it allows them to be super creative, work with a low budget, all while still being featured in the video. Director, Ace Norton deserves kudos for the flawless job he has done piecing this one together. Check out a giant Ben Gibbard in “Crooked Teeth” – Charlie Collick

Artist: The Like
Video: “June Gloom“

The beautiful ladies of the Like are at it again with another superior rock vid. The Like have both natural beauty and natural talent on their side and the video for “June Gloom” shows both. Very simple and quaint, but the girls manage to make it very appealing.
“June Gloom” is shot in three separate frames at the same time, each one focused on a band member. The video is very gloomy (hence the song title) but the girls brighten it up. Nothing Spectacular, but defiantly worth a look or two. – Charlie Collick

Artist: The Elected
Video: “Not Going Home“

I’m not sure which is better The Elected’s “Not Going Home” or the video for it. The song is brilliant single off of the bands debut album, Sun, Sun, Sun. Blake Sennett (of Rilo Kiley) demonstrates great versatility by incorporating a variety of influences such as the Postal Service, The Decemberists, The Shins, and even a little Neil Young.
The video for “Not Going Home” is really cool. Great usage of animation, home video footage, and phenomenal editing make this video a can not miss. I was really impressed by the way this video flows. It is flawless. Easily the best video so far this year. –Charlie Collick
